I forgot my password or lost my second step. How do I get back in?
Use your recovery e-mail or your recovery code to get back into your AnonyID and set a new password.
Contents
There are two ways back into your AnonyID: a code sent to your confirmed recovery e-mail, or your recovery code. Both start on the Get back into your account page. You can also reach it with Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
With your recovery e-mail
- Enter Your confirmed recovery e-mail and select Send code.
- If that address belongs to an account, we send it a code. Enter the Code from the e-mail and select Continue.
- Choose a new password and select Save password.
With your recovery code
- Select Use your recovery code instead.
- Enter your Username and your Recovery code, then select Continue.
- You get a new recovery code straight away. Your old code no longer works. Save the new one, then select I've saved it, set a new password.
A recovery code works once. If you lose your authenticator app or security key, you can also use it on the Confirm it's you page: select Use your recovery code.
Keep your recovery options ready
In your AnonyID settings you can:
- add or change your Recovery e-mail. We send a code to the new address to confirm it. It is never shown to anyone.
- make a new code under Recovery code. Making a new one turns the old one off, and it is shown only once. You may be asked to enter your password again first.
Anyone with your recovery code can get into your AnonyID, so keep it somewhere safe.
If you have neither
Without a confirmed recovery e-mail and without your recovery code, nobody can get you back into this AnonyID, and that includes us. AnonyID never asks for a phone number, a real name or an ID document, so there is nothing else we could check to know the account is yours. Support can't reset the password, turn off the second step or open the account for you.
What you can do:
- Create a new AnonyID on the Create account page.
- If something you paid for is linked to the old AnonyID, write to us and tell us its login username (never your password). We tell you what we can and can't do for it.
To keep this from happening, add a recovery e-mail and save your recovery code while you can still sign in.
