How do I turn on two-step sign-in?
Add an authenticator app, a security key or a passkey to protect your AnonyID with more than a password.
Contents
Two-step sign-in asks for a second step after your password. You manage it in your AnonyID settings under Sign-in and security.
Authenticator app
- Open Authenticator app.
- Scan the QR code with any authenticator app on your phone. If you can't scan it, type the key shown under Can't scan it? Type this key instead:.
- Enter the 6-digit code the app shows.
- Select Turn on.
From then on, after your password you enter the newest code from the app. If you set up an authenticator app in AnonyChat before, it keeps working here as Authenticator from AnonyChat. Setting up a new one replaces it.
Security keys
A security key is a hardware key that is asked for after your password. On Passkeys and security keys, give the key a name under Name for the key and select Add a security key.
Passkeys
A passkey signs you in with your fingerprint, face or screen lock, without typing your password. On the same page, select Add a passkey.
Turning it off
Select Turn off next to your authenticator app, or Remove next to a key. For your protection you may first be asked to confirm it's you with a fresh second step.
Make sure you also have a recovery code, so you can get back in if you lose your phone or key.
